Love Does Not Come To An End

“Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes. Love does not come to an end.” ~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

A passage from the Bible, a quote from one of my favorite movies. It couldn’t have been read out at a better time. Sometimes, it’s like someone talking to you out of nowhere. It’s just a voice with no face but one that eases your being. You hear what you need to hear, even if not directly. And that just changes the course of your thoughts and emotions.

After convincing myself that I couldn’t trust again, I was forced to wonder whether it was love in the first place. Was it love or just a fascination? Was it love or just stubbornness? Was it love or just comfort?

Love is beautiful and when ill feelings creep in, you’ve lost its pureness. Love causes hurt but not to the extent of crushing you to pieces. Love makes you happy more than it makes you sad. Love endears warmth. When in love you are bewitched. It is never selfish, although our insecurities can get the better of us. Love is then taken over by wanting, by controlling. The essence of giving and trusting is lost in the chaos of our thoughts.

Hope. Belief. Faith. Dream. ~ These are the virtues to live by!

Acceptance, I’ve realized, is the only way to come around my fears. And even if it takes a while, it’s best not to fight them back but allow it to heal in its own wake. All that I thought caused me hurt, wasn’t love. Maybe the circumstances, maybe the person or maybe my own judgments.
You can’t restrict it to how your relationship shapes up. And so even if you’re hurt, you still love and let go. You forgive and ask for forgiveness in return. You don’t hold back. You can’t always complain about how the other reacts because that is beyond your control. Dark cold nights are always followed by a bright sunny morning, even if the storm lasts for long the sun does rise eventually bringing with it warmth and repose.

Love will not come to an end. It will knock on your door in different ways. It will reach out to you during unexpected times. It will endure all that comes. Love will teach you to love again and not fail you. All it needs is patience.

And today at this very moment I know I will let go and love again, or at least try.
