Freedom n. Licence to do as one wants

Independence Day

68 years later, India is still fighting a battle. A battle against its own.

Swords and guns are history but the war to freedom still continues. I’ve been told this common tale about India’s rich culture and diversity. What if we’re too diverse? What if what we take pride in is our greatest enemy?

Freedom n. the condition or right of being able or allowed to do, say, think, etc. whatever you want to, without being controlled or limited.

Are we really free? In the recent years, we don’t have the choice to eat what we want, wear what we like, be in love, or raise a voice. Faiths are torn to the ground, money is everything and humanity ceases to exist. Business controls the economy, the common man is merely an excuse and opportunity to gain power. Footpaths are falling apart, housing cannot be afforded, the population is ever increasing and communal war is taking over our nation. The government is a throne, being fought for based on the vulnerability of the people. Control is the new way of life and there is no escape. No more are we of the people, for the people or by the people. India is encouraging people against people and that must stop.

This day isn’t about reminiscing the past and celebrating the freedom we once achieved. This day is a constant reminder to commit to a better present for the sake of a better future.

In the hope of a better tomorrow, let’s together, be the change we want to see.

Happy Independence Day!

Exactly. We take pride in our history. But our present and future needs to b taken care of. We r walking looking back at the things we had and thus we’re having a downfall in today. Everything is being cursed. The system to people to everything. On the name of culture, every community (of the thousands that we have) is imposing its culture on other. How can these culture be a factor to be proud of?? It’s something only an Indian knows. ‘Unity in diversity’: I wonder how..😪
